Established in 1927, THE OCC is the largest and oldest apex business organisation in India. Its history is closely interwoven with India's struggle for independence, its industrialization, and its emergence as one of the most rapidly growing global economies. A non-government, not-for-profit organisation, THE OCC is the voice of India's business and industry. From influencing policy to encouraging debate, engaging with policy makers and civil society, FICCI articulates the views and concerns of industry. It serves its members from the Indian private and public corporate sectors and multinational companies, drawing its strength from diverse regional chambers of commerce and industry across states, reaching out to over 2,50,000 companies.

THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE formerly known as Muslim Chamber of Commerce was established on 1st October, 1932 at the inspiration of Late Sir Abdur Rahim, Honable Speaker, Central Assembly and it was founded by leading Muslim businessmen of Calcutta i.e. Sir Dawood Adamji, Md. Ibrahim Japanwalay, Mr. Noor Mohammad Rajabally, Mr. Abdur Razzak, Hajee Abdoal Suttar, Mr. S. M. Nauman, Mr. Ishaq Chandna and Mr. Md. Rafique. In 1956 in consonance with national thinking, the Chamber changed its name, as did some of the other chambers at that time, to The THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE to promote the commercial interests of small and medium traders, exporters and industrialists. This Chamber has, throughout, served the interest of its members, who consist of small and medium traders, exporters and industrialists and has worked primarily to promote manufacturing, trading and export in the micro, small and medium sectors. Our representatives serve on several Central Govt., State Govt. and Quasi Govt. bodies using their expertise and experience to shape policies and decisions, thus making effective contributions towards various aspects of economic development. We are recognized Chamber of Commerce and duly authorized by Government of India for legalization of Export-Import documents including the issue of Certificates of Origin under Article 11 of the International Convention relating to simplification of Custom formalities.

ii. The THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE has throughout, served the interest of its members and has worked primarily to promote manufacturing, trading and export in the micro, small, and medium sector.
iii. The Chamber educating the members on current development in trade & industry.
iv. The Chamber collecting useful data in areas of special interest to business people and specifying trends on the basis of the same.
