 Dissemination of relevant information to Member

•   The Chamber regularly enlightening the member on various Government notification, Circulars, Orders, Clarifications with critical of their implications.
•   The THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE has throughout, served the interest of its members and has worked primarily to promote manufacturing, trading and export in the micro, small, and medium sector.
•   The Chamber educating the members on current development in trade & industry
•   The Chamber collecting useful data in areas of special interest to business people and specifying trends on the basis of the same.

 As a spokesman of trade and industries.

•   The Chamber of Commerce act as intermediaries between the Government both at the State and Central Govt. and trade and industry
•   The Chamber offer critical comments on the major policies of the Government (e.g. Central Budget, Railway Budget and State Budget) and point out any flows or lapses in then.
•   The Chamber prepare a pre-budget memorandum for the preparing of the Budget for the next financial year. Such comments are highly respected by the Government.
•   It also draw the attention of the Govt. to the problems and grievances of the individual member and try to persuade the Govt. to take remedies measures to show there problem.

 Representation on various Public Bodies

The Chamber has represented its representative on several Central Govt.; State Govt.; Quasi Govt. Bodies and have been making effective contributions towards to shape policies and decisions. These include:

•   Core Committee on West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.
•   Calcutta Electric Supply Consultative Committee.
•   Minimum Wages Advisory Board
•   West Bengal State Labour Advisory Board (SLAB)
•   Regional Advisory Committee, Central Excise, Calcutta II Commissionerate and Calcutta-V Commissionerate.
•   Consumer Protection Council of the State Commission.
•   Environment & Forests Pollution Control Board
•   Export Felicitation Cell (E.F.C)
•   Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee (H.Q.-Commissioner of Income Tax, W.B) etc.

 VISA RECOMENDATION

THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE issues letters of recommendation to the Member Firms for issue of visa for business promotion in order to boost the export trade by visits to foreign countries. THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE has been advised to obtain certain basic information before issuing the recommendation letters for issuance of visa. Member Firms are desirous to obtained letter of recommendation for issue of visa are requested to furnish the following information to THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE at the time of applying.

•   Request letter addressing to THE ORIENTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, on the printed letterhead of the Member Firm, clearly specifying the name of the person who is seeking the visa, his / her designation in the company, his / her passport number and the country(s) to be visited.
•   Photocopy of the passport of the person applying for the visa.
•   Photocopies of trade enquiries / invitation letters received from the country(s) to be visited. Fee payable : 300/-
